How to Understand Shipment Shortage Options

Below is a list of the most common Shortage Codes you may come across:

Cancel Shipment Now

SnapFulfil will try to assign stock to the order once.

If the order cannot be fulfilled, it will set the Shipment stage to Cancelled.

Cancel Shipment when Due

SnapFulfil will try to assign stock to the order until one of the following occurs:

  1. All of the stock is available
  2. An authorized user clicks ‘Set Cut-off’

If there is still a shortage, the order will be cancelled.

Cancel Shipment Line Now

SnapFulfil will try to assign stock to the order once.

If the order cannot be fulfilled, it will set the stage of the order line with the shortage to Cancelled.

Cancel Shipment Line when Due

SnapFulfil will try to assign stock to the order until one of the following occurs:

  1. The stock is available
  2. An authorized user clicks ‘Set Cut-off’

If there is a shortage, it will set the stage of the order line with the shortage to Cancelled.

Change Status Now

SnapFulfil will assign stock with a status of 'Good'.

If there is still a shortage, it will allocate stock of non-good status based on any Pick Constraints set up within the system.

Change Status When Due

SnapFulfil will assign stock with a status of 'Good'.

If there is still a shortage, and an authorized user clicks ‘Set Cut-off’, it will allocate stock of non-good status based on any Pick Constraints set up within the system.

Pick Now and Attempt to Fulfill

SnapFulfil will assign stock and create pick tasks immediately.

It will continue to try to satisfy the order.

Pick when Due

SnapFulfil will not create any pick tasks until either:

  1. All of the stock is available
  2. An authorized user clicks 'Set Cut-off'

Pick when Due+

SnapFulfil will create pick tasks when all of the stock is available, without needing an authorized user to click ‘Set Cut-Off’.

Pick Now What You Can

SnapFulfil will assign available stock and create pick tasks immediately.

It will not try to assign any further stock to the order.

Pick Now and Substitute

SnapFulfil will assign available stock and create pick tasks immediately.

If Substitutes exist, it will try to assign substitutes for the rest of the order.

Pick Now and Back Order

SnapFulfil will assign available stock and create pick tasks immediately.

A back order will be created for any stock that could not be fulfilled.

  • What happens to an order when all of it is unfulfilled and set to back order?

No back orders are created.

  • What happens to back orders when the main shipment is purged?

Nothing. The back orders are orders in their own right and are separate from the main shipment they originated from.

Accept Overage

This will allow stock to be over-picked for an order.
